The Gold Star Award is the highest achievement award available through the Texas 4-H and Youth Development Program. It will be awarded only once in a member’s 4-H career. To maintain the quality of the award, the following criteria will be considered the minimum. Any 4-H member not meeting these criteria will not be considered for the award.  The organization may choose not to award the Gold Star Award if there are not 4-H members in the county who exceed the minimum criteria. The maximum number of Gold Star Award recipients will not exceed two (2).

• Must have (at least) completed, or be completing their 9th grade school year at the time of application
• Must have completed at least 3 years in 4-H, including the current year.
• Must have completed projects in at least three (3) different project areas
• Must have participated in one or more activities in at least three (3) of the following areas:
  • Project Exhibits
  • Participation in Leadership Experiences such as Leadership Labs, Texas 4-H Congress, or National Leadership Events such as National 4-H Congress/Conference, and any county, district, or state leadership group.
    Competitive Events (judging, educational presentation, public speaking, food show, quiz bowls, etc.).
  • Citizenship activities
  • Camps at the county, district, or state level.
  • 4-H Promotion (speeches, poster displays, radio, TV, newspapers)
  • Other (includes exchange programs, fund raising)
    • Note: The requirements for projects and activities do not all have to be completed in the current year. They may have been accomplished over the entire period of time the person has been in the program.
• The member must have exhibited leadership skills by serving as a 4-H officer or committee chair (club, county, district or state), and/or as a junior or teen leader in an activity or project with or under the supervision of an adult volunteer leader.
• The 4-H member must have participated in one or more community service activities. Examples include providing leadership to a One Day 4-H project, working with or counseling junior 4-H members; participating in community service projects (individual, group or club); and motivating other 4-H members through participation in demonstrations, projects and/or exhibits.
• The 4-H member MUST SUBMIT A TEXAS 4-H RECORDBOOK in the year they are to be considered for the award.
• Must not have been previously awarded the Texas 4-H Gold Star Award.

The Golden Clover Award is a county level achievement award available through the Wilson County 4-H Program. It will be awarded only once in a member’s 4-H career. To maintain the quality of the award, the following criteria will be considered the minimum. Any 4-H member not meeting these criteria will not be considered for the award. The organization may choose not to award the Golden Clover Award if there are not 4-H members in the county who exceed the minimum criteria. The maximum number of Golden Clover Award recipients will not exceed one (1).

• Must have (at least) completed, or be completing their 9th grade school year at the time of application
• Must have completed at least 3 years in 4-H, including the current year.
• Must have completed projects in at least three (3) different project areas
• Must have participated in one or more activities in at least three (3) of the following areas:

The National Leadership Award, better known as the Danforth- I Dare You Award is a National level achievement award available through the American Youth Foundation in partnership with Texas 4-H and Youth Development Program. This award focus’ heavily on leadership rather than overall 4-H experience. It will be awarded only once in a member’s 4-H career. To maintain the quality of the award, the following criteria will be considered the minimum. Any 4-H member not meeting these criteria will not be considered for the award. The organization may choose not to award the Danforth- “I Dare You” Award if there are not 4-H members in the county who exceed the minimum criteria. The maximum number of Danforth – “I Dare You” recipients in Wilson County will not exceed two (2).

• The 4-H member must be in the 10^th, 11^th, or 12^th grade as of the current 4-H year at the time of application
• Must have completed at least 3 years in 4-H, including the current year
• Must have completed projects in at least three (3) different project areas
• The member must have exhibited strong leadership skills by serving as a 4-H officer or committee chair (club, county, district or state), and/or as a junior or teen leader in an activity or project with or under the supervision of an adult volunteer leader.
• Must have participated in one or more activities in at least three (3) of the following areas:
  • Project Exhibits

The organization may choose not to award the Green Clover Award if there are not 4-H members in the county who exceed the minimum criteria. The maximum number of Green Clover Award recipients will not exceed three (3).

• Must currently be in the 9th grade school year at the time of application
• Must have completed at least 3 years in 4-H, including the current year.
• Must have completed projects in at least three (3) different project areas
• Must have participated in one or more activities in at least three (3) of the following areas:
  • Project Exhibits
  • Participation in Leadership Experiences such as Leadership Labs, Texas 4-H Congress, or National Leadership Events such as National 4-H Congress/Conference, and any county, district, or state leadership group.
    Competitive Events (judging, educational presentation, public speaking, food show, quiz bowls, etc.).
  • Citizenship activities
  • Camps at the county, district, or state level.

The Silver Star Award is the highest achievement award available to Intermediate level 4-H’ers through the Texas 4-H and Youth Development Program. It will be awarded only once in a member’s 4-H career. To maintain the quality of the award, the following criteria will be considered the minimum. Any 4-H member not meeting these criteria will not be considered for the award. The organization may choose not to award the Silver Star Award if there are not 4-H members in the county who exceed the minimum criteria. The maximum number of Silver Star recipients in Wilson County will not exceed four (4).

• Must be in the 6-8th grade school year at the time of application.
• Must have completed at least two (2) years in 4-H, including the current year.
• Must have completed projects in at least three (3) different project areas
• Must have participated in one or more activities in at least two (2) of the following areas:
  • Project Exhibits
  • Participation in Leadership Experiences such as Leadership Labs, Texas 4-H Congress, or National Leadership Events such as National 4-H Congress/Conference, and any county, district, or state leadership group.
    Competitive Events (judging, educational presentation, public speaking, food show, quiz bowls, etc.).
  • Citizenship activities
  • Camps at the county, district, or state level.
  • 4-H Promotion (speeches, poster displays, radio, TV, newspapers)
  • Other (includes exchange programs, fund raising)

The Bronze Star Award is the highest achievement award available to Junior level 4-H’ers through the Texas 4-H and Youth Development Program. It will be awarded only once in a member’s 4-H career. To maintain the quality of the award, the following criteria will be considered the minimum. Any 4-H member not meeting these criteria will not be considered for the award. The organization may choose not to award the Bronze Star Award if there are not 4-H members in the county who exceed the minimum criteria. The maximum number of Bronze Star recipients in Wilson County will not exceed ten (10).

• Must be at least 8 years old and in the 3rd grade- 5th grade.
• Must have completed at least two (2) years in 4-H (may include the current year).
• Must have completed projects in at least two (2) different project areas
• Must have participated in one or more activities in at least two (2) of the following areas:
  • Project Exhibits
  • Participation in Leadership Experiences such as Leadership Labs, Texas 4-H Congress, or National Leadership Events such as National 4-H Congress/Conference, and any county, district, or state leadership group.
    Competitive Events (judging, educational presentation, public speaking, food show, quiz bowls, etc.).
  • Citizenship activities
  • Camps at the county, district, or state level.
  • 4-H Promotion (speeches, poster displays, radio, TV, newspapers)
  • Other (includes exchange programs, fund raising)

The Rookie of the Year Award is a county level award available through the Wilson County 4-H Program. This award is given to first year members of 4-H. It will be awarded only once in a member’s 4-H career. To maintain the quality of the award, the following criteria will be considered the minimum. Any 4-H member not meeting these criteria will not be considered for the award. The organization may choose not to award the Rookie of the Year Award if there are not 4-H members in the county who exceed the minimum criteria. The maximum number of Rookie of the Year Award recipients will not exceed one (1).

• Must have completed his/her first year in 4-H, no matter what age.
• Must have completed at least one (1) project.
• Must have participated in one or more activities in at least one (1) of the following areas:
  • Project Exhibits
  • Participation in Leadership Experiences such as Leadership Labs, Texas 4-H Congress, or National Leadership Events such as National 4-H Congress/Conference, and any county, district, or state leadership group.
    Competitive Events (judging, educational presentation, public speaking, food show, quiz bowls, etc.).
  • Citizenship activities
  • Camps at the county, district, or state level.
  • 4-H Promotion (speeches, poster displays, radio, TV, newspapers)
  • Other (includes exchange programs, fund raising)
